Newport Corp. (www.newport.com) is proud to announce the release of XPS-DRVP1 – an XPS-compatible driver card that is intended for piezoelectric stack-based nanopositioning line of sub-nanometer resolution stages. The product complements other XPS driver cards made to drive the traditional stepper motor and DC micropositioning products, enabling control of nearly all of Newport’s motion products with the XPS controller.
The driver is very convenient to set up and it eliminates the need for either an independent piezo-stack driver or an XPS pass-through card. It also allows a wider range of precision motion control positioning applications compared to other previous products.
Operators can finish their motion processes and perform fast, precise positioning over long travel distances with ultra-precise sub-nanometer positioning resolution. This XPS-compatible controller works at its best with all “–D” versions of Newport’s nanopositioners. Through an erasable programmable read-only memory, stage parameters are stored in the connector, which also features an embedded electric submersible pump plug-and-play technology that automatically uploads all necessary stage settings and stage ID to the XPS.
The one-axis driver provides 60mA peak current and operates from -10V to 130V, with an internal loop rate of 4kHz .For further flexibility, the driver can operate both closed- and open-loop nanopositioning stages with embedded strain gage position sensors.
