href="http://www.rockwellautomation.com/">www.rockwellautomation.com) has announced the release of its two new Allen-Bradley controllers, the Micro830 and Micro810, as well as the Connected Components software.

A part of the Allen-Bradley Micro800 range, the component-class micro programmable controllers provides machine manufactures a cost-effective control solution, making them suitable for standalone machine applications with less than 48 I/O.

“With this new line, Rockwell Automation is delivering the functionality and flexibility of a micro programmable logic controller for the price of a smart relay. Yet, the greatest value of the new Micro800 range is the simplicity and convenience it provides, with the right amount of control, so customers only pay for what they need,” said Adrian van Wyk, Business Manager at Rockwell Automation.

The Micro800 controllers feature a vast array of plug-in modules for communications, analogue/digital I/O and expanded memory. The range’s plug-in modules allow machine manufacturers to customize the controllers to optimize functionality without increasing the product footprint. Aside form providing removable terminal blocks, the new range also simplifies communication through point-to-point data exchange.

The smallest of the Allen-Bradley Micro800 family, the Micro810 programmable logic controller comes with embedded smart relay function blocks, which can be configured from the keypad and LCD. These function blocks include time of day, delay OFF/ON timer, time of week as well as time of year for applications demanding a programmable lighting and timer control.

Motion Control Tips

Atlanta, Ga. – Siemens Industry, Inc. has announced an extension of the upper performance range of its popular Simotion D motion controllers. The new generation of Simotion D445-2 multi-axis controllers has new features such as onboard Profinet interfaces, high-speed I/O, and with three times the performance, a single controller can support up to 128 axes of motion.

Simotion D motion control systems are ideal for production machines covering all levels of performance; from simple single-axis positioning tasks to complex synchronous applications, with extremely short cycle times on a large number of axes. Thanks to its scalability, Simotion D offers users a high degree of flexibility for the ever-changing demands of machine automation. The Simotion D drive-based multi-axis control system not only offers PLC, motion control and advanced technology functions, but also an integrated drive control based upon Siemens Sinamics S120 drives.

With the new Simotion D445-2 DP/PN and D455-2 DP/PN versions, the performance range has been extended even higher. Compared to the previous generation, the maximum quantity has been doubled to 128 axes and the memory capacity significantly expanded. This has increased the PLC and motion control performance by a factor of three. With Simotion D445-2 DP/PN and D455-2 DP/PN, the previously optional Profinet I/O interface has now been integrated on the modules as standard. This frees up the option slot for other expansion cards. The onboard interface is equipped with an integrated three-port switch and facilitates different network topologies such as line, star or tree structures, without the need for additional external switches. The interface not only supports real-time (RT), but also isochronous real-time (IRT) data exchange and can be operated as a controller and/or device of another controller.

In addition to the Profinet interface, Simotion D445-2 DP/PN and D455-2 DP/PN also have two Profibus and two Ethernet interfaces, as well as 28 digital I/Os, of which 16 can be used for technology tasks such as output cams and measuring inputs with microsecond resolution.

For more information, visit

Two versions of the new control are available in the same compact, power-dense package size of 51.7cc, slightly larger than a matchbox. The BGE 3508 model is designed for 10-30V input with 75W of continuous and 225W peak power, while the BGE 6005 model can produce 120W continuous and 300 W of peak power with 60V input.

These new controllers are suitable for use with brushless or conventional brushed DC motors similar to Dunkermotoren’s BG and GR/G ranges. Information about the motor’s rotor position can be supplied to the positioning controller either by the voltage or by an encoder in the case of commutator motors or, for brushless motors, by Hall sensors or an incremental encoder. The controls incorporate protection against over-voltage, low voltage and excessive temperature.

If 4-quadrant digital speed control is desired, the control can be commanded to run in either direction, stop and hold with torque, and stop without torque (coast) through digital inputs. Other inputs can switch between programmed speeds or allow for a variable analog speed reference. Accel/decal ramps for the motor can also be programmed. The control offers the capability for a motor to function as a stand-alone, programmed servo which interfaces to the rest of the machine via digital and analog IO.

The new BGE 3508/6005 controllers offer many different modes of operation to choose from, such as analog or digital torque control, analog or digital speed control and digitally selectable position control (relative, absolute, and modulo).

Designed for volume OEM applications, the Dunkermotoren BGE 3508/6005 controllers offer a design alternative for restricted space applications where the additional length of an integral control motor may not be feasible. They can also be encapsulated to provide additional protection in extreme environmental conditions.

CANopen is the most widespread application layer in non-automotive control applications and market researchers predict that by 2015 some 400 million CAN chips will be used annually in a wide range of applications such as medical equipment, heavy vehicles, door control systems and throughout commercial and industrial automation systems.

Visit

The latest MOFSET technology is more efficient and robust than its predecessors. Greater efficiency leads to a more compact ACS controller that reduces the requisite number of mechanical components. Greater robustness and fewer components maximizes reliability, while smaller size lets OEMs place the controller more freely within the vehicle to reduce cabling and mounting costs. The net impact for OEMs who use ACS GEN6 motor controllers is maximum reliability with lower total cost of ownership.

ACS GEN6 is the first Kollmorgen product released with Kollmorgen’s new software platform for vehicle motor controllers. The software lets Kollmorgen customize software to meet specific customer requirements, while crucial firmware functionality remains untouched. Improved granularity and adjustability of the event log, as well as advanced logging, are firmware features that bring value to both OEMs and end-users by allowing detailed and accurate troubleshooting information to shorten vehicle downtime and minimize service costs. Additionally, the software is designed to meet the high quality standards of the automotive and hybrid markets, and Kollmorgen’s software development process is regularly audited for conformance to Automotive SPICE©.

The design and manufacturing process of ACS GEN6 controllers ensures maximum product quality. ACS GEN6 has gone through repeated Design For Manufacture (DFM) analyses during the design process to ensure that the product is optimized for stable and consistent manufacturing at high volume. Specialized production equipment tailored to manufacturing ACS GEN6 was developed alongside the actual products to ensure that the production equipment and processes, as well as the product itself, enable low variance production.

For more information visit <a

Some of the most valuable data lies within the programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that automate assembly lines. Manufacturers typically deploy PLCs machine-by-machine, so accessing that data can be a real challenge. This new set of class libraries provides anyone who knows Visual Basic.NET or Visual Studio C# everything they need to communicate with some of the world’s most popular Allen-Bradley controllers,” said Chuck Karwoski, head of CimQuest INGEAR.

NET.LOGIX 3.0 has several advanced features, including a new PeerMessage class for Unsolicited Messages, which waits idle in a passive state to allow the Allen-Bradley controller to send data through MSG instructions. Upon receiving communication, the PeerMessage class sends a notification event with information for the user application to process it immediately. The PeerMessage class is designed to receive MSG instructions from CompactLogix, ControlLogix, ControlLogix Gateway, MicroLogix, as well as PLC-5E and SLC 5/05 family of controllers.

NET.LOGIX 3.0 also features the DTEncoding class, which helps read and write Pre-Defined Types (PDT’s) and User Defined Types (UDT’s) as objects with or without the need to read or write every atomic member individually.

www.farnese.com.au) has unveiled the new Quantum bridge saw that provides X, Y and rotational motion for the efficient and fast shaping of stone bathroom and kitchen surfaces. Compared to existing machines, it sets a new price/performance standard in the market sector.

<a

It gives the operator flexibility to make motion profiles easily and quickly by eliminating the need for additional software.

“Machine cutting paths are based on a range of pre-defined geometric shapes and dimensional information entered by the user,” DeSouza added. “These are used to calculate and pre-load motion commands which are executed in real time within the controller. Therefore, the machine does not experience any time delays associated with standard computer operating systems.”

Farnese’s one-of-kind interface makes selection of the proper shape-cutting process very simple, avoiding risk of operator error. Several pre-programmed shape-cutting sequences are also provided in the application to cover common requirements, without the need for skilled operator programming by the bathroom and kitchen surface suppliers that typically bought these machines.

With the new Quantum bridge saw, Farnese Australia switched to Baldor’s Ethernet-based NextMove e100 controller. It provides all of the resources needed for the real-time interpolated control of four servo motor axes, all of the machine’s I/O, as well as ActiveX interface to the unique Windows user interface that the company has developed to simplify stone masonry.

When assembling an inhaler, the user must first screw the top part to the bottom part of the case and then clip the mouth piece into the casing. Highest possible process reliability should be realized in the construction and development of the respective assembly system.

Thus, controllers of modern assembly systems have complex tasks to do. The latest DCOS (DEPRAG CONTROLLER SYSTEM) introduced by DEPRAG SCHULZ GMBH u. CO. (www.deprag.com) is a user friendly system with high functionality. DCOS, which controls, analyses, records and documents, is a new process and assembly control system for the highest possible industrial level.

The DCOS control system demonstrates the diversity of the PC world. DPU 100 (DEPRAG PROCESSING UNIT) is mainly based on an industrial PC which works with Windows CE system software. The control unit can also control very complex motion sequences with short cycle times (typically < 6ms). A 6.5″ color touchscreen with VGA resolution offers greatest operator comfort during operation as well as display of operating conditions. The DPU 100 can access the World Wide Web or the company network through a freely available EtherCat-Port.

Depending on the task, control cabinet DSEC (DEPRAG SAFETY EXTENSION CONTROLLER) 20 to 40 is utilized with DPU100. These control cabinets include 32 outputs and inputs through EtherCat fieldbus, security components and a 24VDC power supply with 10A. The additional integrated profibus master module permits non-problematic connection of all fieldbus devices.

The DSEC30 is the ideal solution for assembly stations and screwdriving that have higher security and power requirements. It can control up to three NC axles. With their respective power sections, three stepper motors are included as standard. Other applications with linear motors or servo motors are available on request. Screwdriving or other assembly systems along with axle systems are part of the DSEC40′s application range.

<a

Its standard enclosure is submersible to 3-feet and is sub-plate and screw mountable. The HEC-4000 is programmed by using Divelbiss EZ Ladder software supporting the ladder diagram, which has a function block programming.

The HEC-4000-E-R features 8 to 32 Virtual Design and Construction (“VDC”) input power and an extended operating temperature ranging from -40 degrees to 80 degrees Celsius. Its I/O includes four 8 to 32 VDC inputs (“two are 40 kHz high-speed counters”); six digital outputs rated to four amps, including a programmable status monitoring and an automatic over-current safety. The four outputs are selectable as pulse-width modulation (“PWM”) with internal analog current sensing variables allowing closed loop control of the output loads. Also, there are four analog inputs factory set to 0 to 5 VDC or 0 to 20ma when recorded. Network communication is done by using a second serial communication port or via CAN port. Expansion I/O includes both analog and digital with required allowance for custom modules in the future.

Typical industrial use such as improved proportional valve control via marine application, conveyor systems, oil field equipment or intelligent mining, mobile asset tracking and management, closed loop, control for engine compressors and driven pumps. The wide operating temperature range (“-40 degrees to +80 degrees Celsius”) and 8 to 32 VDC input power gives ease particularly in utilization by marine platforms and off-highway.

<a

Starting from 10 to 32 I/O, the CPU only measures 25(w) x 90(h) x 70 (d) millimeters. It is about a quarter of the size of the traditional bulky Brick PLC.

FP0R PLC Programmers saves money and precious panel space. Its relay output types have detachable screw terminal blocks. Also, the power supply is quick to disconnect. It is easy to install, especially when duplicating systems.

It has an 80 nsec/step ultra-high speed between 0 and 3000 steps. Scan time can be reduced by simply transferring existing FP0 programs (“2.7 k steps”) into FP0R.

Compared to the conventional model, 3001st and later steps’ processing is faster. FP0’s basic instruction processing speed is 900 nsec. While FP0R’s speed is 580 nsec, which is 1.5 times faster than FP0.

Its high-speed processing, by combining the two ultra-high-speed processing (“0 to 3 k steps”), accommodates programs that grow with functionality enhancements of equipment and systems, raising the productivity.

Also, its ultra high processing speed is ideal for use as a sensor controller. For example, labeling machines require a system capable of reading output signals in an instant from one fiber sensor and immediately controlling the roller rotation to detect the end edge or label head on the release paper tape.

FP0R Series has 32k-word data register and 32k-step program capacity. It features functionality enhancements of equipment and systems (touch panels, communications, positioning, and analog control) inevitably accompany increasing complexity and number of programs.

FP0R PLCs accommodates the increase using its 32k steps large program memory capacity and a data register of 32k words, and facilitates data setting and record management for a variety of product types.

It has an independent comment memory for easy maintenance of programs, where there are program control difficulties on PC, like identifying the latest program. With this, all comments, maintenance, facilitating program control and programs can be stored in the PLC.

The program used in the equipment’s PLC is often considered as the best option.

FP0R PLCs is fully compatible with FPWIN Pro, a new generation programming tool. Without the drawing data (“project file”), the flowchart programming (“SFC”) and function blocks (“FB”) cannot restore the original drawing on a PC.

The FP0R PLCs also have a USB 2.0 tool port, which is provided as standard equipment. The control unit with an ordinary USB cable can easily connect to a PC, making program monitoring and/or editing available.

www.adlinktech.com) unveiled its first programmable automation controller (“PAC”) solutions, using the IEC 61131-3 programming standard, for automation applications — the PACwiz series. It provides a platform offering the convenience and performance of PAC development to automation application developers, with IEC 61131-3 syntaxes full compatibility, including five programmable logic controller (“PLC”) programming language standards. Using Pacwiz, PLC users can easily upgrade to a programmable automation controller platform without additional training as application development can be achieved in IEC 61131-3 languages, same as with traditional PLCs.

The PACwiz series features distributed I/O of up to 2016 points and distributed motion control of up to 256 axes, which are time-deterministic. It not only allows configuration of I/O topology and the entire motion profile based on application requirements, it also provides flexible wiring configurations which reduce and simplify wiring costs between modules by 20 percent by using standard Ethernet cables.
“PACs are now becoming the mainstream solution for automation controllers by providing better performance and flexibility by supporting low-cost PC peripherals such as RAM, CompactFlash, Ethernet, and standard monitors,” said Ethan Huang, ADLINK’s Senior Product Director. “PACwiz is derived from ADLINK’s extensive knowledge of full motion control and high-speed I/O design, combined with support of IEC-61131-3 programming languages to provide traditional PLC users an effortless means to upgrade to a powerful and robust PAC platform.”

The PACwiz series has two systems: open (“PACwiz-MXC”) and closed (“PACwiz-DPAC”). The open (“PACwiz-MXC”) system, powered by an Intel Atom (“TM”) N270 1.6 GHz processor, is made using a fanless expandable platform (“via PCI and PCIe slots”) by ADLINK. It is also made to operate as an I/O controller integrated with distributed motion modules (“Motionnet and HSL modules”) and/or I/O while providing the flexibility for additional modules like a frame grabber. The closed (“PACwiz-DPAC”) embedded system is made using compact and fanless distributed PAC by ADLINK with built-in I/O control and distributed motion solutions using HSL and Motionnet buses.

The 7272 EnDat interface module directly interfaces with all Heidenhain EnDat 2.1 rotary encoders, high accuracy angle encoders, and linear scales. The module is digital, two-channel, and bidirectional; enabling it to transmit position values as well as read and update information stored in the encoder, or save new information. For high system reliability, sensor data such as application-specific parameters, compensation tables, error detection, and diagnostic capabilities are made available with this module. Several other features come standard.

EnDat position sensors are bidirectional, and thanks to the serial transmission method supported by AMCI’s 7272 module, only four signal lines are required. They are also self-commissioning, reporting all the encoder’s properties to the controller at power up. OEMs can download application specific data to the encoder’s freely definable memory area. By using the AMCI EnDat interface module, use of these valuable functions is made available through the ControlLogix PLC.

AMCI’s EnDat interface module paired with a Heidenhain EnDat encoder provides a feedback solution for all applications in motion control. Examples of applications that benefit from this pairing include machine tool, printing, and robotics.

<span
