Delta Tau Leads the Way in Scientific Research

Diamond Light Source, one of the largest synchrotron research facilities in the UK, is currently utilizing Delta Tau’s Geo Brick LV (Low Voltage) to control nearly 1500 axes of motion. The Diamond Light Facility can be described as a series of ‘super microscopes’, housed in a striking doughnut-shaped building which is over half a kilometer in circumference, or the equivalent of 5 football fields. The synchrotron enables scientists globally to study the structure, behavior, and function of particles at the molecular level.
The light generated inside the beamline is guided, intensified or de-intensified using a series of slits, lenses and crystals; the angles and positions of which are dictated using several types of motors including – AC Servo, DC servo and stepper motors. The Geo Brick LV lends itself well to the Diamond Light project, because of its ability to offer high precision control while simultaneously controlling these several different motor technologies.
