Sioux Center, IA – Groschopp’s AC motors are inverter duty classified. The inverter duty motor is small and compact, in order to reduce energy consumption. The smallest AC motor offered, the AC65, measures just 2.88 inches square and 5.22 inches in length. This motor series is designed to directly integrate with Groschopp’s standard reducer lines with minimal interface components optimizing both size and cost. Groschopp’s AC motor further reduces energy consumption with its ability to run at varying speeds.

The Groschopp AC motor is utilized best in a long-life, continuous duty, application. It has no common wear parts such as brushes and commutators, so it is highly reliable, featuring long life potential and low maintenance. Since the AC motor maintains speed over a wide range of torque it integrates well with commercial ovens, conveyers, insulation blowers, augers, medical beds, x-ray tubes and other conveyer and continuous motion machines. With customization options for speed control and high heat resistance along with the convenient customization from standard to food-grade grease permits the AC motor to synchronize well with commercial, industrial, and construction applications.
The standard features in a Groschopp AC motor include: rugged ball-bearing construction, high-efficiency stator and rotor tolerances and impregnated windings designed to withstand more than twice the nominal voltage.
The Groschopp AC motor has a superb heat dissipation system. Groschopp’s AC motors have innovative cooling channels in the motor housing to avoid dust and grime build-up that can cause overheating and motor damage. “This special cooling mechanism allows the motor to run at lower speeds without overheating which is vital to an inverter duty motor” comments Tullar “we want our motors to last forever.” To further withstand the heat these motors also have insulation that meets “H” class temperature ratings with the ability to withstand temperatures up to 180 degrees Celsius.
Groschopp offers a single phase, 115 and a 230 volt AC motor and a high power, 230 volt, three phase motor. Groschopp can also custom build a dual voltage AC motor. Having both single and three-phase design options provides multiple cost-effective choices depending on the supply voltage and control requirements. “One of the best features of The AC motor is it’s lack of noise” says Tullar. “This AC motor runs so quietly it will not add any additional noise to your workplace,” this is thanks in part to the motor’s ability to run on low current. (Groschopp motors are UL, CSA, CE and RoHS compliant).

St. Charles, IL – Electric motors consume from 63% to 70% of the electricity used in American manufacturing. However, most motor efficiency efforts to date have focused on less than 10% of the total electric motor population: those motors greater than one horsepower. In response to customer desires to increase efficiency in equipment employing fractional horsepower electric motors, Bison Gear & Engineering Corp. introduces its new 107 series Verdant Duty™ gearmotors in 5 standard, off-the-shelf models. Rated at 1/20 horsepower (37.3 watt) at 230 volt, 60 Hz, 3-phase, they feature an operating range from 6 to 90 Hz to provide a 15:1 range of adjustable output speeds in applications requiring no maintenance.

The gearmotors feature totally enclosed, non-ventilated (TENV) AC motors constructed with special insulation systems to ensure long life when driven by compact, economic frequency inverters that convert conventional AC single phase to three phase power. Employing integral gear reducers with gear ratios from 6.7:1 to 95.5:1 they offer output speeds from 368 to 1.7 RPM with output torques up to 100 in-lbs. (11.3 N-m).
The new Verdant Duty™ AC gearmotors will be introduced at the annual meeting of the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) at the Hotel InterContinental in Chicago on December 5. “Environmental Sustainability” is a key topic on the agenda. With over 4,000 members, IMA is the oldest and largest state manufacturers’ association in the U.S.
The RoHS compliant gearmotors feature UL, cRUus and CE recognition and are supported by Bison’s Innopreneurial™ application and design engineering capabilities to customize standard models to meet specific OEM needs. Customers’ shortened supply chain requirements are fulfilled by the units being manufactured in Bison Gear’s St. Charles, Illinois facilities to the highest quality standards to ensure dependable, long-life operation.
