New Micro Motor Product Line from Johnson Electric

Johnson Electric announces its new Compact DC motor product line which delivers the industry’s highest power density. This innovation is based on Johnson Electric’s proprietary Curve Technology. Curve technology is deployed within a DC motor platform with a unique 4-pole magnetic design in a curved package which reduces motor size by 25% and weight by 35%. This power density improvement is perfect for automotive applications where low weight and compact size are required. Overall vehicle weight is a key driver of fuel economy, and the new motors from Johnson Electric help make cars more fuel efficient.

Compact DC motors can be custom engineered to address multiple automotive applications including window lifts, sunroofs, steering wheel locks, door locks, HVAC actuators and most other functions in the car that require DC motors.

Gas Tight and Fail Safe Motors

VANDALIA, OH – Johnson Electric introduces Saia® Motor EGD 402 Gas Tight Motors and EGD 421 Fail Safe Gas Tight Motors.  Designed specifically for use with all types of heating gases, EGD series motors are certified according to Gas Appliances Directive 90/396/EEC to perform fail safe gas flow modulation and closing functions, and include a mechanical safety return feature.  As a result, they are ideally suited for use in direct or indirect fire/HVAC equipment, commercial or residential furnaces, or gas valve applications.

With Class B insulation and a stainless steel tube between the stator and the rotor, these gas sealed motors are built for robust, reliable operation.  They are rated to deliver a minimum of 500,000 operating cycles, at operating frequencies of 25 to 200 Hz, in temperatures ranging from -15 to +85°C.  These motors are available with a 12 or 24 V unipolar coil (bipolar available), deliver 10 or 15 mm travel, and provide 21 or 42 μm step resolution; 240 or 720 steps.  Integrated safety functionality provides closing time ≤1 second.

Saia® UAL series Linear Stepper Motors from Johnson Electric

VANDALIA, OH – Johnson Electric introduces Saia® UAL series Linear Stepper Motors. These motors deliver constant positioning force up to 30 N over the full travel distance of up to 15 mm, at speeds up to 4.16 mm/s at 200 Hz. They feature a unique removable bayonet-style flange for easy mounting, a flexible design that easily accommodates various custom requirements, and a compact 20 x 30 mm footprint to deliver advanced performance in space restricted applications.

Saia UAL series motors are available in unipolar or bipolar models, with performance attributes that make them well suited for use in instrumentation, valve control, dispensing, metering pump, auger and medical automation applications.
