AMETEK introduces new MAE HN Series hybrid stepper motors with fine positioning capability for microstep operation

AMETEK Technical & Industrial Products (www.ametektechnicalproducts.com), a unit of AMETEK, Inc. (www.ametek.com) and a global leader in manufacturing electromechanical devices and electronic instruments, is proud to announce the release of the new MAE brand ”HN Series“ hybrid stepper motors that offer low detent torque to hold torque ratios promoting smooth operation and positioning capability, which is required for microstep operation. These new motors can give high-speed operation and accurate open-loop control suitable for a wider range of positioning applications.

MAE HN Series hybrid stepper motors

The new Standard Size 34 “HN Series” hybrid steppers come in three models (“lengths 2.64 inches to 4.92 inches”) with step resolutions of 1.8º (“200 steps per rev”) in full step mode. Holding torques (“bipolar”) from 397 oz-inch to 1076 oz-inch can be reached, depending on the model.

The all MAE ”HN Series” motors incorporate neodymium magnets for superior acceleration and maximum torque; ground rotors and precision-honed stators for improved performance and tight air gap; four, six, or eight leads upon request; simple, rugged construction that promotes long service life and high reliability; and single or double-ended shaft extensions.

Its motor rotation can be ran counterclockwise or clockwise. The value-added customization options include gearboxes (“worm, spur, planetary, or right angle”) with low or standard backlash, brakes, encoders, and cabling, endbelt, and special shaft. The all MAE ‘HN Series’ motors from AMETEK are CE approved, made according to EN 60034-1: 1995-02 specifications, and is provided to meet IP55 splash and dust proof protection.

4418 NEMA 17 Stepper Motors from Lin Engineering

Santa Clara, CA—Lin Engineering introduces the new 4418 NEMA 17 stepper motors. The 4418 series, designed exclusively utilizing Lin Engineering’s unique manufacturing capabilities and expertise, provides up to 35% more torque when compared to motors of similar mechanical dimensions.

Lin Engineering’s 3809 Modular Motors

Santa Clara, CA — Lin Engineering, the Step Motor Specialists, are pleased to introduce the new 3809 NEMA 14 modular motors. The 3809 series, designed exclusively with Lin Engineering’s patent pending Signature Series technology, is the new and improved version of the 3609 series modular motors.

lin 3809

The 3809 series of motors are available in four different stack lengths with the thinnest measuring in at a mere 12.7mm (0.50”) in thickness. Depending on the stack length, these small, yet powerful motors are capable of producing up to 16 oz-in of holding torque. As an added value, Lin Engineering is able to customize the motor performance and create new windings at no extra cost. Additionally, Lin Engineering can place the 3809 series in almost any customer supplied/designed housing imaginable.

If you have an application that requires a small, lightweight motor that still delivers a considerable amount of torque the 3809 series may be the motor for you. Industries currently benefiting from the features of this motor in their applications are: medical, semiconductor, optical, robotics, and surveillance.

Signature Series Technology:
Lin Engineering’s new patent pending Signature Series technology is now available with the 3809 motor series. The Signature Series was developed exclusively to help reduce system resonance and provide overall smooth motion. Depending on the application, using motors with the Signature Series technology may result in up to 50% less resonance being produced.
