1½” Double-Wide Linear Unit Can Carry a Ton

February 20, 2009 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Because it has greater ball contact in its ground circular arches (tripling load capacity), the TOPBALL® line by NB Corporation can actually carry a load of up to one ton (2000 lbs). Having three times the conventional load capacity, TOPBALL products minimize space requirements.

The TOPBALL line is uniquely engineered to self-align. They have load plates whose ends are thinner than their centers – making the center a fulcrum for self-alignment. Each bearing’s load plate is precision-ground – not stamped – and checked for consistency when it’s manufactured. Because wiper seals on the bearings are floating, they don’t restrict self-alignment and the floating load plate allows for ease of clearance adjustment.

In addition to conventionally sized, single width, block-housed bearings, NB offers a full line of double-wide block-housed TOPBALL units identified as TWA-WUU.

NB’s TOPBALL slide products offer 27 times more travel life to automation equipment, machinery, optical and measuring instruments. Though ideal for new designs, they are also perfect for retrofitting as they’re fully interchangeable with conventional linear bushings.

TOPBALL bearings are available in sizes from 1/8 to 2 inches or 10mm to 40mm. A full line of prefabricated units is offered and corrosion resistant types are also available.

TOPBALL products are available as total systems or as individual components such as slide bushings, units, precision ground slide shafts and supports – metric or inch.

NB Corporation designs and manufactures their entire line of linear bearing products to minimize size and weight while providing superior performance in high-precision equipment. NB’s product quality is unsurpassed.

NB offers CAD drawings of all it’s linear motion products: Slide Guides, Ball Splines, TOPBALL®, Slide Shaft, Slide Way, Slide Table, Gonio Way, BG Actuator, Stroke and Rotary Bush products as well as many flanged type products.
