ABB equips AC500 PLCs with remote control protocol

May 16, 2012 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

The Scalable AC500 PLCs from ABB Australia (www.abbaustralia.com.au) provides full functionality in a single unit as it is equipped with IEC 60 870-5-104 remote control protocol.

The web server integrated range includes ‘Extreme Conditions’ PLCs that can operate even at high temperatures and high altitudes in wet conditions. They also offer greater tolerance to hazardous gases and vibration.

To supply water more efficiently, the High Availability features of the AC500 help reduce the possibility of equipment downtime and human error, while dual CPUs as well as dual communication fieldbus CS31 have also been utilized to eliminate the chance of software and hardware failure.

Aside from reliable data storage, the AC500 PLCs also feature condition monitoring solutions that monitors electrical measurement, vibration, pressures, flow and temperatures.

ABB’s systems offer continuous trending, measuring as well as database creation of all measured data. Reports and repair planning based on the systems effectively reduce maintenance costs by up to 50 percent, while the system’s up to four GB internal memory allows users to conveniently record and save data. In addition, the AC500 also provides reports on system status via email.

The ability of the AC500 PLCs to remotely connect to various equipment provide users with greater flexibility and availability in diagnostics and monitoring while saving money and time.

With the remote control capability, users can monitor, update, control and troubleshoot the equipment wherever it may be located, enabling maintenance and support workers to function more efficiently.

The AC500 PLCs offer flexible, efficient and reliable water solutions for sewage treatment, urban water distribution, water treatment and desalination.
