B-Hornet military servo drive delivers over 4,000 watts

August 27, 2012 By Stacy Combest Leave a Comment

Elmo Motion Control announced that it has optimized its standard Hornet military servo drives, making them suitable for applications demanding very high power pulses.

Although it weighs just 1.8 oz (50 g), the B-Hornet enhances the standard 20 A/120 V Hornet to 40 A/120 V, delivering more than 4,000 watts of power to various applications such as unmanned aerial vehicles, military winglets, turrets and gimbals.

The B-Hornet has been specifically designed to withstand extended environmental conditions and is based on the firm’s SimplIQ technology. Capable of operating in velocity, position and current modes, the military servo drive also comes with a vast array of I/O and feedback options. In addition, users can perform configuration, drive setup, analysis, tuning and programming easily using Elmo Composer software. Operating on DC power, the drive allows cost-saving and efficient implementation when used as a PCB-mounted device.
