Baumer MAGRES Sin/Cos Multiturn Encoders with Analog Interface

April 4, 2013 By Stacy Combest Leave a Comment

Baumer has introduced the MAGRES Sin/Cos Magnetic Absolute Multiturn Series of Encoders with high-reliability analog output. Ideal for for data transmissions commonly implemented on utility vehicles, cranes and industrial trucks, this new output variant with an analog interface simplifies system integration and facilitates diagnostic performance.

Available with solid and blind-hollow shaft options, the encoders provide 12-bit singleturn and 16-bit multiturn resolution with analog output by 12-bit digital-to-analog (D/A) transducer. For applications such as vehicle outrigger positioning, telescopic cranes or lifting platforms that require height or length acquisition up to 7500 millimeters (24.6 feet), the new MAGRES series offers compact analog encoders coupled with cable-pull assemblies.

To ensure absolute reliability in position detection, the encoders’ robust, non-contact magnetic single and multiturn sensing technique is absolutely wear-free and resistant to dirt, dust, condensation, and temperature fluctuations. These ultra-resilient encoders endure shock and vibration impacts up to 500 g and 30 g respectively, and operate dependably in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +85 °C. Integrated self-diagnostics continuously monitor position values for plausibility and ensure failsafe encoder operation.

MAGRES Analog encoders are available with voltage outputs from 0 to 10 volts or 0.5 to 4.5 volts, or with current output from 4 to 20 milliamps. The optional two channel output forms a redundant system to guarantee the highest level of performance in demanding applications. Default settings and on-site parameterization by teach-in simplify device configuration.
