As an optional predictive maintenance feature, Beckhoff Smart System Diagnosis (B/SSD) provides real-time monitoring to support predictive maintenance in motion control systems and machines. B/SSD can now be integrated into Beckhoff’s AM8000, AM8300, AM8500, AM8700 and AM8800 servomotor series.
In-motor measurement of vibration, humidity, and temperature supports statistical evaluation of system health with TwinCAT Analytics software for predictive maintenance. It allows ongoing monitoring of machine conditions and processes so teams can address issues early and support efficient operation and improved uptime. Integrated into Beckhoff’s One Cable Technology (OCT) on AM8000 servomotors, B/SSD does not require additional sensors or sensor cables, keeping wiring similar to that of a standard motor.
Vibration measurements can be captured as RMS averages, peak values, or statistical indicators such as kurtosis, up to ±50 g. These measurements can help identify bearing and gearbox issues, imbalance, misalignment, and shock or impact events. B/SSD also supports temperature monitoring from -40 to 125 °C and humidity monitoring from 0 to 100%.
With B/SSD integrated into TwinCAT Analytics, live and historical data can be recorded, visualized, and converted into dashboard-ready information to support machine optimization.
