Bishop-Wisecarver Group announces most creative award winners

Bishop-Wisecarver Group, a WBENC-certified, woman owned family of companies that offer guidance solutions, contract specialty manufacturing and mechatronic-based engineering services, recently announced the Most Creative Award winners from the recent Contra Costa County Science and Engineering Fair (CCCSEF). More than 200 students showcased 145 projects at the 11th annual event held at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, Calif. and BWG was a business sponsor for the Most Creative Award category given to both age levels in the competition.

Partners Thomas Chow and Sophia Li were selected as the senior level Most Creative Award winners for their project on “Engineering the Surface Microstructure of Implants to Enhance Bone Production”. Anish Singhani was selected as the junior level Most Creative Award winner for his project on “Indoor Navigation System for the Visually Impaired”.unnamed

“Thomas, Sophia and Anish developed remarkable projects that required not only scientific knowledge and research, but also a creative mind to think beyond the parameters of what has already been done and consider the possibilities for change,” said Pamela Kan, president, Bishop-Wisecarver Group. “Demonstrating creativity is one of our core values at BWG and we are excited to honor these students for exemplifying this important aspect in their projects. BWG is committed to sponsoring opportunities like the CCCSEF where students can engage in hands-on STEM activities that combine innovation and real-world applications.”

“I was very excited to see a vast array of high quality science and engineering projects submitted by talented students,” said Henry Wu, vice president of Engineering, Bishop-Wisecarver Group. “These students have a very bright future and I’m especially proud of the level of creativity by the winners.”

The CCCSEF was held March 17-19, 2016, and is an Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) affiliated event. These competitions exist in every state in the U.S. and over 70 countries. The Grand Sweepstakes winners of the CCCSEF go on to compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair where more than 2000 young scientists and engineers from around the globe to share ideas, showcase cutting-edge science projects and compete for over $4 million in awards and scholarships.

In addition to receiving the Most Creative Award recognition and financial gift, BWG will also host the winners for a personalized, on site tour of the manufacturing facility.
