Boston Gear’s 700 Series Speed Reducers

December 7, 2012 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

A new line of Boston Gear 752 size worm gear speed reducers is now available with hollow output shafts in 5.25” center distance. Output torque of the new models range up to 12,250 lb.ft., more than double when compared to 738 center distance. Six new bore sizes are offered ranging from 2” to 3-7/16”. Double reduction ratios are also available.

The 752 size units are designed to meet the demands of heavy-duty conveyor systems or any large shaft mount applications.

Boston Gear’s 700 Series, the standard for modular worm gear construction, is known for its durable, efficient, and trouble-free performance. The internal worm is specially ground for enhanced efficiency and lower heat generation leading to prolonged product life.

All 700 Series reducers feature rugged cast iron housings and high-strength bronze worm gears mounted between heavy-duty tapered roller bearings. Quality materials and proper heat-treating of the 700 Series components provide strength and durability. Large oil reservoirs also provide efficient heat dissipation and lubrication for longer operating life.

The new 752 models feature larger output bearings for greater rigidity while providing reduction of drivetrain components through shaft mounting flexibility. Units are backwards compatible with all 700 Series industry-standard mounting dimensions.
