Calnetix Technologies, LLC (www.calnetix.com) has unveiled the Insight 3600 magnetic bearing controller, a compact, state-of-the-art, panel-mounted magnetic bearing controller that can control advanced permanent magnet and bias magnetic bearings even in up to five axes.

Magnetic bearings eliminate the need for lubrication and rotational friction making it a vital component of high-speed rotating systems, noted Herman Artinian, Vice President of Business Development at Calnetix. Aside from monitoring shaft position, magnetic bearing controllers also offer the electrical current needed to maintain the magnetic fields, which position a rapidly rotating shaft.

Offering all the essential elements to operate a magnetic bearing system, the Insight 3600 controller features power amplifiers that are rated at 3600 Volt Ampere (VA) per channel, a sensor interface to demodulate and drive up to five sensor coils and a comprehensive Graphical User Interface (GUI) for programming as well as for remote monitoring and diagnostics of the system. Each unit of the controller also comes with a powerful digital signal processor (DSP), which regulates the current of the power amplifier to drive the bearing actuators.

The all-new Insight 3600 controller can be used with the company’s various magnetic bearing products, such as the Xcelflux and Powerflux.
