Compact hollow-shaft angle sensor from Novotechnik

April 18, 2019 By Miles Budimir Leave a Comment

The new WAL 340 hollow-shaft angle sensor from Novotechnik, U.S. provides absolute, rotary position. As an absolute sensor, the WAL 340 continues to track angle even if power is removed, reporting the correct position when power is restored.

Sensor dimensions are 32 x 39 mm and a unique notch built into the housing aids alignment. The WAL 340 has a measurement range of 0 to 290°. Mechanical range is a continuous 360° with no stop. It accepts an 8-mm D-shaped shaft. Other key specifications include resolution of < 0.3°, repeatability of 0.3° and independent linearity of ± 1% of measurement range.

The WAL 340 sensor has a minimum life of 20 million mechanical movements and is protected from ingress of water and dust to IP 65. Cable and connector versions are available.
