Delta expands and enhances C2000 series VFD to run induction and PM motors

November 17, 2016 By Lisa Eitel Leave a Comment

Delta’s VFD-C2000 has become bigger and better with new features for applications in industrial automation markets.  The VFD-C2000 is designed for variable frequency drive (VFD) applications up to 600 HP for 480 VAC and 840 HP for 690 VAC for induction and permanent magnet motors.

Its modular design allows for easy maintenance in replacing printed circuit boards and fans.  It features built-in PLC function with 10,000 steps and Safe-Torque-Off function.  It has an energy saving mode and built-in MODBUS communications with network expansion capability including MODBUS TCP, CANopen, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT.  The C2000 Series allows for additional Input/Output expansion and encoder feedback option cards.   Connecting to the local area network with EtherCAT gives the highest performance and synchronization while using network control.

Delta’s C2000 series VFD is robust.

Built to be highly reliable, the C2000 series VFD has printed circuit boards that are 100% conformal coated to Class 3C2 of IEC60721-3-3 standard .— and that lets the drive withstand chemical, salt air and dusty harsh environments for a longer drive life. Delta’s VFD-C2000 is versatile. The C2000 offers a large horsepower and voltage range to fit many applications: 1 to 125 HP for 230 V and 1 to 600 HP for 480 V.    The power range has been expanded to include 1 to 20 HP for 600 V and 1 to 840 HP for 690 V.  The operating temperature range is 14° F to 122° F (-10° to 50° C).

The VFD is also modular. The C2000 offers three option card slots for expanded communication options, expanded Input / Output options, encoder cards and external control power back-up.

The variable frequency drive has new features, too. The C2000 has added new product features to expand the capability of the C2000 drive into industrial automation markets.  Single phase input has been added for the C2000 to use with motors in difficult to reach rural areas for utility companies such as irrigation fields and oil fields.

The expanded horsepower range up to 600 HP for 480 VAC and up to 840 HP for 690 VAC allows the C2000 to handle large industrial applications in new markets for Delta Industrial Automation including oil and gas, mining, metals, cement, chemical processing and water treatment facilities.

For crane and winding applications requiring a high starting torque such as lifting, crane parameter 01-43 has been added.  This includes a DC brake to shorten the stopping time for winding applications and also to hold a stopped load in position.

The Flux Braking function uses a patented over-flux control feature to control the DC bus voltage during a fast motor deceleration and avoid a DC bus over-voltage condition.

The EtherNet/IP option card has expanded industrial network capability with EIP Builder software to enable access to drive parameters over a star, linear or ring network topology.   EtherCAT will allow direct drive access control for the highest performance and process synchronization available in field network control.

The C2000 Vector Control drive is a robust, versatile and modular variable frequency drive making the Delta Products variable frequency product line the most scalable and reliable variable frequency drives on the market.
