Elmo Previews its Nano Ultra High Power Servo Drive

August 14, 2014 By Jennifer Calhoon Leave a Comment

ElmoElmo Motion Control, a provider of advanced and cost-effective motion control solutions will preview the Gold Twitter, the smallest, high-power servo drive soon to be released at Sindex 2014 in Bern Switzerland, September 2-4, 2014.

Weighing at just 18 grams and less than 13 cm3 in volume, Gold Twitter delivers up to 4000W of qualitative power, ultra high current of 50A/100V with the most advanced servo capabilities and support for EtherCAT and CANopen fieldbus communication standards for deployment in any industrial application.

Along with the Gold Twitter, Elmo will present the Gold Whistle Line. This series of advanced powerful miniature servo drives provides up to 1600W of continuous power, runs optimally on any servo motor and supports “any feedback”. The Gold Whistle Line introduces 3 models: a PCB mount Gold Whistle, a plug-and-play Gold Solo Whistle and a classic panel based Gold DC Whistle.

Gold Twitter and Gold Whistle are excellent solutions to complex applications that require high performance but are limited in space. In addition, the servo drives are mountable, thus ensuring high servo performance and savings in hardware and cabling.

The Gold Line is an integral part of Elmo’s motion control solution. It offers outstanding performance with a rich selection of features: intelligent motion functions (OC, Master-Slave Follower, Modulo, Dynamic Braking, ECAM,PIP Cascaded Vector Control, I2t Protection); DS-402 profile modes (cyclic position, velocity and current); the ability to handle any feedback (incremental encoders, analog encoders, absolute encoders, and resolvers); 1D/2D/3D error correction; up to 65 kW of power, STO safety standard compliance; UL and IEC 61800 certification to 800 VDC and 530 VAC.

Based on the premise that “the best way to dissipate heat is not to generate it in the first place,” the Gold line incorporates Elmo’s proprietary FASST (Fast and Soft Switching Technology) resulting in >99% efficiency with negligible EMI.

Easily set up and tuned using Elmo Application Studio II (EASII) software, the Gold Line of servo drivers operate as a single or multi-axis control solution in a distributed configuration real-time network.

Elmo recently released its free advanced online EASII Experience RPS system providing users with the ability to build and practice advance servo control, multi-axis solutions and EtherCAT networking. It allows building up a complete application online with no need to purchase or install any hardware or operating system.
