Engineers Week 2017: Dream Big

February 21, 2017 By Miles Budimir Leave a Comment

It’s that time of year again; time for the engineering profession to step into the spotlight during the annual celebration of national Engineers Week. 2017 Engineers Week runs from February 19th through the 25th.

The theme this year is Dream Big. According to the DiscoverE web site,

Every project, great or small, starts with a dream. A dream to create and build. Engineers engage their creativity and technical know-how to transform dreams into reality. They are dreamers across the professional spectrum from transportation, to agriculture, to medicine and beyond.

More than 100 corporations and government agencies, engineering, education and cultural societies formally participate. Week-long events include outreach programs for children as well as educating the public on the important role engineering plays in society. The DiscoverE web site offers ideas for ways to get involved in your own community.

The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) also offers a list of related programs for both Engineers Week and beyond.

Check out this National Science Foundation (NSF) short video answering the question what is engineering?

It's #EngineersWeek, when we celebrate the difference engineers make in our lives. So, what IS engineering? https://t.co/AyhS8pYeGi pic.twitter.com/9LKI2lB2WH
