HT Servo Micron planetary gearhead features swing link technology

September 12, 2012 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

HT Servo’s Micron range of planetary gearheads seamlessly combine the proven features of planetary technology such as low backlash, high torsional stiffness and high torque to volume ratio with the latest ‘swing link’ technology, which raises torque capacity by as much as 25 percent.

The Micron planetary gearheads feature a gear arrangement that uses three planet gears and provide optimum performance characteristics, low noise and high efficiency. The planetary gearheads have also been optimized by attaching planet gears designed with mobile ‘swing link’ technology.

Aside from reducing the noise produced, the swing link technology also diminishes the frictional losses due to tight meshing with the ring gear. In addition, it also enhances tooth contact by balancing the load to allow a three to 11 percent increase in efficiency or more than 20 percent efficiency per gear stage. Torque ripple can also be reduced by 20 percent over a fixed planetary gearhead, effectively making the gearboxes ideally suited for low and medium speeds.

The Micron product range offers right angle planetary gearheads as well as direct inline planetary gearheads. Right angle planetary gearheads employ a right angle gear-set mesh, which comes with a unique tooth design that deliver higher torque densities as well as increased right angle ratio range. Meanwhile, direct inline planetary gearheads feature various housing types and steel gears that offer increased backlash integrity and superior wear resistance.

The planetary gearhead’s Redimount motor mounting system allows quick, easy and error-free connection to virtually any motor available.
