Incremental Sendix 7000 Encoders from Kuebler

November 13, 2013 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Explosion protection counts among the particularly safety-relevant tasks in many industries and branches. In branches such as mining, the chemical industry or the oil production, high plant availability and the best protection possible for men and for the environment have highest priority. Measuring devices that are in charge of positioning tasks must fully meet the strict protection provisions.

With the new incremental Sendix 7000 encoders with ATEX and international IECEx approval, Kübler completes its robust ATEX encoder family. Used in compliance with its intended protection level, this range significantly reduces an existing explosion hazard.

Furthermore, the Sendix ATEX family covers a range of other safety aspects. With their flameproof enclosure hosings in Safety-Lock™ design, they are approved throughout Europe for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. And, thanks to their new IECEx approval, there are no more obstacles for a worldwide use.

With its IP 67 protection level, the shock and vibration-proof housing out of seawater-resistant aluminium is another important part of the safety package. The encoders are suitable for offshore plants and saltwater-resistant. Their incremental variant operates flexibly with a resolution that reaches 5000 pulses and, thanks to their wide temperature range from -40°C up to +60°C, they ensure total reliability in the harshest conditions. The Ex encoders offer the highest safety against field breakdowns. Their compact construction, with an installation depth of only 145 mm, a diameter of 70 mm and a space-saving cable outlet, completes the numerous and flexible possibilities of use in areas subject to explosion hazards.

As an absolute multi-turn or single-turn encoder, this series features both SSI and field bus interfaces. The Sendix ATEX family also counts encoders with SIL2 and SIL3 certification, including available MTTFd values that make calculations according to EN 61800-5-2 und EN ISO 13849-1 easier. The Safety version is completed with tested and safe mechanical connections.
