Ingenia Offers Ultra-high Power Density Servo Drive Called Venus

February 24, 2012 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Ingenia Motion Control (www.ingeniamc.com) is the maker of Venus digital Servo drive, an ultra-high power density Servo Drive and stand-alone motion controller that comes in a convenient stand-alone package.

The Venus is capable of driving best-in- market motor topologies of up to 2 kW, and does not require any additional heat-sink for the entire operating temperature range. It offers a wide range of feedback and Input/Output (I/O) options and can operate velocity, position and current modes.

The servo drive integrates CAN interface with CANopen protocol (CiA-301, 402 and 303) and RS232 interface (with daisy-chain option) that enhance distributed motion control and configuration functionality.

It is also designed to accept a wide set of command reference sources, aside from being capable of working in stand-alone mode to execute a program that is pre-stored from its non-volatile memory. Assuring safe and efficient operation, the Venus comprises an extensive set of self-protection programmable mechanisms. New firmware may be downloaded from Ingenia’s website in order to reprogram the controller as well as add new features.

The Venus is well-equipped with a complete set of software tools that enables the user to configure, tune and operate the motion systems within just a few minutes.

The servo drive suits well with rotary or linear brushless (trapezoidal and sinusoidal), voice coil and DC brush motors. It can operate in several modes namely: Open LoopProfiled Velocity, Profiled Torque, V/F, Interpolated Position, Cyclic Sync Position, Profiled Position and Homing.

It can work well with feedback devices such as DC-Tachometer, Digital Halls, Analog Halls, PWM sensor, Analog Input (Potentiometer) and Incremental Encoders.
