Innovasic Semiconductor (www.innovasic.com) has unveiled the 1-Port RapID Platform for Profinet devices and EtherNet/IP adapters in line with the manufacturer’s effort to deliver the lowest cost Industrial Ethernet solutions.

Tom Weingartner, Vice President (Marketing) of Innovasic, said: “As with our previously released 2-port version, Innovasic’s 1-port RapID Platform provides quick and easy EtherNet/IP or Profinet connectivity. And whether you need 1-port or 2-ports, the same RapID Platform hardware can be used for both Industrial Ethernet protocols.”

The 1-port and 2-port RapID Platforms support Profinet version 2.2 and EtherNet/IP version 4.1 and are downloadable directly from the Innovasic website. This is pre-tested and fully functional for Profinet and EtherNet/IP conformance, which include bill of materials, electronic schematics, and layout files, as well as all essential software, development environment and stacks.

Based on Innovasic’s fido1100 communication controller, the RapID Platform can be utilized as a “network processor” along with any host microcontroller. In addition, it can be utilized as a standalone solution with the customer’s application directly running on the RapID Platform. The schematic has been designed carefully to deliver robust, industrial-class, long-life performance at the lowest possible BOM cost. The Ethernet physical interface includes bicolor LEDs, magnetics and protection circuitry integrated in the connector. Cycle times down to 1ms are achieved using the fido1100’s unique software architecture and deterministic hardware.

The 1-Port EtherNet/IP and Profinet RapID Platforms are offered on the company’s website and the 2-Port versions are now available.
