Kollmorgen’s AKD® PDMM expedites commissioning of complex systems

October 4, 2012 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Kollmorgen has unveiled the AKD® PDMM — a device that enhances machine throughput while reducing development time.

The AKD® PDMM combines a AKD® servo drive, a EtherCAT® master, a complete IEC61131-3 soft PLC and a high-performance multi-axis motion controller into a single compact package. This enables OEMs to increase system flexibility, scalability, and motion performance, while reducing machine costs and panel space by 50 percent or more. Moreover, it also simplifies wiring and integration.

Aside from that, AKD® PDMM is ideally suited for various applications including medicine, converting, packaging and flexographic printing. It is also suited for other automation markets, especially those where accurate synchronization of many axes of motion is important.

Furthermore, when utilized with Kollmorgen’s powerful and intuitive Pipe Network™ motion engine, OEMs can greatly simplify machine designs, enabling the set-up of complex systems in a matter of hours and days, instead of weeks or more.
