Konecranes introduces optimized RMG Cranes

May 3, 2011 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Konecranes (www.konecranes.com) has released the latest design of its RMG cranes. Based on the company’s decades of experience in manufacturing and designing cranes, the technology incorporated in its latest RMG cranes delivers all the key elements of high performance, easy and improved steering, value, low energy consumption, reliability and low operating costs. The optimized RMG cranes offer the advantage of new as well as proven innovations.

The company has specifically developed the technology incorporated in the new RMG crane to meet the varying demands of RMG owners.

The high performing crane features unique patented Konecranes Active Load Control (ACL) system, which offers the most effective sway prevention system. The ACL system also provides horizontal fine positioning of the spreader, while still enabling it to move up to 300 mm in gantry/trolley travel direction without the need of moving the gantry/trolley. New and inexperienced crane drivers will have no problem achieving the required production figures rapidly since the ACL of the new RMG cranes are extremely simple and easy to operate.

The high performing crane also offers a spreader trim that features hoist machinery units that eliminate the need for separate special trim mechanisms. For less maintenance, better reliability and lower environmental risks, the company did not include any hydraulics on the crane, only on the spreader.

The company has also integrated the crane with advanced drives and power regeneration to provide reduced noise level and lower energy consumption. It also features durable and rigid compact steel structure as well as remote diagnostic system which enable service technicians and operators to analyze the crane’s productivity and preventive maintenance needs.

The RMG crane’s optional slewing trolley delivers precise load positioning and load handling for moving containers between road vehicles and rail cars.
