MDT’s TMR Magnetic Angle Sensors with 360 degree angle measurement

April 18, 2012 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

MultiDimension Technology Co., Ltd. (MDT) (www.multidimensiontech.com) has unveiled two Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) magnetic angle sensors, which feature 360 degree angle measurement, large air-gap tolerance and high-amplitude robust output signals.

Specifically designed with the company’s innovative TMR technology and intellectual property, the magnetic angle sensors are ideal for use in a wide variety of industrial sensor applications, such as speed sensors, rotary endcoders, rotary position controllers for BLDC (brushless DC) motors and contactless potentiometers.

“We are passionate about offering all the benefits of TMR sensor technology to our customers with multiple service options to best suit their needs,” remarked Dr. Song Xue, Chairman and CEO of MultiDimension Technology.

“In addition to supplying TMR magnetic sensor chips, we are open to delivering entire system solutions upon request. We can custom-design TMR sensor wafers for high-volume customers to integrate with their own ASIC technology.”

Aside from lowering the complexity of the signal processing circuitry, Dr. Xue said that the new MMA253F/MMA153F TMR magnetic angle sensors can also reduce overall system cause of rotary encoders. This is attributed to the sensors’ high precision, lower power and large stable output signals, which offers a simple solution for integration with digital or analog circuitry.

The TMR sensor technology seamlessly combines the key benefits of magnetic sensor technologies like Hall Effect, GMR (Giant Magnetoresistance) and AMR (Anisotropic Magnetoresistance), while overcoming their limitations, which include design complexity for 360 degree measurement (AMR) and low signal sensitivity (Hall, GMR and AMR).
