New flange couplings more secure than standard press fits

January 28, 2015 By Lisa Eitel Leave a Comment

Ringfeder-flange-coupling-RfN5571-BRingfeder-brand RfN 5571-series flange couplings for heavy industry.

The flange couplings (from Ringfeder Power Transmission) are simpler to install and have higher torque capacity than standard press fits.

Equipped with Ringfeder shrink discs, the flange couplings in this new series eliminate the need for additional components such as keyways or shims. Installers don’t need to heat and cool the part to integrate them into machines, either … which reduces installation complexity.

The flange couplings are slip fit. The installer simply torques the shrink-disc screws for frictional engagement. The flange couplings come with hexagon-head screws or hexagon socket-head cap screws.

Advantages include a stronger connection than keyway connections; no wear parts; higher torque-carrying capacity; backlash-free shaft-hub connections; and high true running accuracy.

Target applications include those in the mining industry, those within general gearbox designs; and those in plant manufacturing.
