SMD23E motion control package simplifies installation

September 6, 2012 By Stacy Combest Leave a Comment

Advanced Micro Controls Inc. (AMCI) incorporates a drive, stepper motor and controller in its latest three-in-one integrated motion control package with Ethernet interface to simplify installation and reduce cabling.

Easily programmable through the software of the host controller, the SMD23E is a compact, low-cost motion control solution that communicates with the host controller through Modbus-TCP or EtherNet/IP. Its innovative product design makes it ideally suited for controls upgrades or new installation.

The compact SMD23 features an optional encoder for move verification. Its integrated Ethernet interface uses standard CAT5/6 cabling and RJ45 connectors to simplify connectivity to host controller (PAC or PLC).

ODVA conformance-tested, the cost-effective integrated motion package can interface with various PLCs such as those from Omron, Schneider and Rockwell Automation. It also eliminates the need to learn any new programming language or software since all programming is performed by similar software utilized to configure the host PAC/PLC.

By delivering unrivalled speed range with high torque stepper motion control, the SMD23E provides exceptional performance across a vast array of applications including bottle capping, conveyors, cut-to-length, feeders, pick and place, package sorting as well as form, fill and seal.
