The Timken Company (www.timken.com) has proudly announced a 10 percent average increase in calculated load ratings for its tapered roller bearings.
Utilized in a vast array of industrial and mobile equipment, the Timken tapered roller bearings have been specifically engineered with advanced technology. Performance assessments of the bearings warrant the improvement in predicted life in around 20 product types used in various industries, including agriculture and food processing, mining and aggregate, rail and vehicle systems, and energy generation from coal, gas, oil and wind.
From the results of an extensive lifecycle testing, it was proven that the company’s higher performance ratings works out to greater value, with improved load-carrying capacity and longer predicted bearing service life than previously published.
“As the tapered roller bearing technology leader, Timken continually enhances this core product line,” commented Douglas H. Smith, Senior Vice President of Technology and Quality at Timken.
“Companywide, our engineers and manufacturing teams demonstrate unwavering commitment to build upon our legacy of innovation and continuous improvement. The cumulative impact of improvements in Timken steel-making technology, fundamental design, and precision manufacturing and gauging has measurably increased the durability of Timken bearings.”
The engineers at Timken work closely with various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in order to develop top-of-the-class tapered roller bearings for applications such as transmissions, pumps, gear boxes, compressors, engines and other processing equipment. The increased ratings, for customers, implies increased power density — optimized performance packed into compact, lighter bearings, enhancing the energy efficiency of the equipment they keep in motion.
