Water-Jacket Cooled Motor from WEG

December 3, 2009 By Miles Budimir Leave a Comment

Atlanta, Ga. – WEG Electric Corp. introduces the WGM water jacket cooled motor, ideal for extreme environments with high temperatures, dusty conditions, and space constraints.Waterjacket

Featuring a cooling system that maintains thermal efficiency, the motor remains cool in harsh conditions. Through the circulation of water over the frame construction and endshields, the system allows an effective thermal exchange between the motor and water, and increases the output power versus frame size ratio. Additionally, the system minimizes the heat exchange with the environment and cools the bearings without requiring an independent cooling system.

The motor is available in horsepower ratings from 400 to 3750Hp, in frame sizes 315 to 560 IEC and 5000 to 8800 NEMA, with voltages from 690 to 6600V, and in either 50 or 60Hz.

The WGM motor is designed to meet the most demanding applications, including marine duty, cement, mining, petrochemical, steel, wind energy, pulp and paper, among others. The motor is ideal for operating conditions where high output power versus frame size ratio is required. The WGM motor also features a lower noise level, compact construction, reduced thermal dissipation, and variable frequency drive operation.
