Zero-Max CD Couplings deliver high performance design materials

April 19, 2012 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Zero-Max (www.zeromax.com) has expanded its CD Coupling portfolio with the addition of the Series A1C high performance CD couplings, which combine high performance design materials, features and precision.

Ensuring reliable operation, the all-new CD A1C couplings feature high dynamic load capacity and high torsional stiffness, making them ideal for use even in the most demanding servo motor and motion control applications.

The zero-backlash couplings offer a unique compact design that allow for smaller machine footprint. With precise positioning under high speed reversing loads, the couplings effectively eliminate fatigue to offer reliable 24/7 operation.

For handling higher torque and larger shafts, the robust couplings feature improved clamp style hubs, which provide superior shaft engagement. The CS A1C clamp style hub design increase clamp strength and eliminates the need for keyways for a better balanced and cleaner design.

Made of premium materials, CD A1C feature precision machine hubs that are made from ISO 7075-T6 aluminum. The hubs have been black anodized to MIL-A-8625 Type 2, Class 2 finish. For recessed fasteners, the couplings have ISO 4762 grade 12.9 socket head cap screws.

In addition, the couplings feature a composite disc that is made of high precision composite material, manufactured to strict Six Sigma and aerospace practices.

For perfect balance, all the components of the couplings have been tested with Finite Element Analysis (FEA). According to RoHS directive, the coupling’s eco-friendly materials do not contain any banned substance.

The A1C Couplings are available in six sizes, with torque capabilities ranging between 40 Nm and 564 Nm. Depending on model, speed ratings are offered from 6700 RPM to 15,000 RPM.
