Kason’s Centrifugal Screener comes with a sanitary design

August 8, 2011 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Kason Corporation (www.kason.com) has unveiled a three-bearing shaft that cantilevers for fast removal of internal components — the Centri-Sifter centrifugal screener.

External roller bearings are fitted at the shaft’s motor end as well as at the discharge end’s hinged cover to provide optimum support and effectively eliminate vibration during heavy load operation. Opening the hinged cover causes the shaft to cantilever on the third roller bearing mounted externally between the material feed point and the motor-end bearing, permitting the internal parts to easily slide from the opposite shaft end.

Featuring Clean-In-Place (CIP) Spray Balls for quick sanitizing using cleaning solution or steam, the unit is made of stainless steel finished to 3-A, industrial, BISSC, FDA and other sanitary standards. The unit also features a stainless steel motor.

The Centri-Sifter centrifugal screener is specifically designed for food, pharmaceutical and dairy applications demanding thorough wash-down, and for general chemical applications that require frequent runs or screen changes/inspections of multiple materials without cross contamination.

Equipped with heavy-duty wedgewire screen, the horizontally-oriented cylindrical screening chamber is gravity-fed with moist or dry bulk solid material. A rotating helical paddle assembly speeds up the particle’s radial movement against the screen. This causes on-size particles to travel through the screen’s apertures and fall in a cone-shaped discharge chute, while the oversized particles are sent through the screen cylinder’s open end and thrown out through the discharge spout.

Aside from scalping and sifting dry bulk materials, the screener can also break up dewater moist slurries or solids and/or soft agglomerates.
