GAM Announces Record Shipping Month in September

November 19, 2013 By Patrick Curran Leave a Comment

GAM announces a record shipping month in September 2013.

In the early part of 2013 amidst a cloud of economic uncertainty, GAM made considerable capital investments to help facilitate the first stages of their strategic growth plan. They re-configured their manufacturing floor plan and added additional assembly cells dedicated for high volume production orders. In addition, GAM purchased a new vertical machining center that increases overall capacity and plays an instrumental role in the production of precision gearbox components as well as their recently launched PMK product.

“I firmly believe that we can attribute this record to the increase of our in-house manufacturing and assembly capabilities,” stated Craig Van den Avont, President of GAM, “We have not only reduced the leadtimes to our customers, but we can also bring new products to market quicker than ever before.”

As 2013 progressed and the economy picked up momentum, machine builders kept their inventories lean and relied heavily on a streamlined supply chain. This was felt first hand by GAM as they saw an 80% increase for same or next day rush orders over the same time period last year. “Our flexible manufacturing and short set up times really allow us to respond to our customers and take care of their time sensitive orders.” added Van den Avont.

Acknowledging the trend for faster deliveries, GAM also introduced a new delivery program for their PE-Series of inline planetary gear reducers, offering common sizes and ratios in two weeks standard and in many cases just days.

“We have set some pretty aggressive goals for the next five years, “said Gary Michalek, Founder and CEO of GAM, “So while we are extremely happy with this shipping achievement, we are already focused on the next month and are poised for continued growth into the future.”
