Baumer HS35 Programmable Encoders deliver 60 Arcsecond accuracy

December 1, 2011 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Baumer has unveiled its latest HS35 family of incremental hollow shaft encoders, which include a fully-programmable version, for speed control applications and heavy-duty positioning. The rugged encoders are specifically designed to withstand high-pressure cleaning, shocks of up to 200 g and ambient temperatures ranging from -40°F to +212°F.

Baumer HS35 encoders feature ultra-precise optical scanning system that provides unrivaled positioning with 60 arcsecond accuracy. They are also available in IP67, square wave and sine wave versions.

Offered for shaft diameters from 0.5 inches to 1.0 inches, the encoders can be customized through shaft insert adapters. The isolation shaft inserts offers electrical isolation from voltages of up to 2.5 kv, effectively preventing wear and corrosion. The ShaftLock system of the encoders features large diameter between ABEC5 bearings, allowing the shaft to endure high mechanical loads at up to 5000 rpm speed and 60 arcsecond accuracy.

The HS35 encoders’ robust design includes wall structures and extra durable castings that can withstand prolonged exposure to harsh environments. Lubricants, dual seals and a heavy duty powder coating on the bearing cover and housing protect the encoders from corrosion, enabling operation in almost all types of environmental conditions. In addition, the IP 67’s high performance impermeability seals protect the encoders from high pressure wash down.

Offering fully-programmable index, resolution and outputs, the HS35P allows customization and minimizes encoder inventories. Using user-friendly software, the encoder can be directly programmed through the supply line.

Baumer HS35 encoders are specifically developed to withstand extreme mechanical strain, making it ideally suited for motor and drive control in various heavy duty applications including wind power, oil and gas processing, metalworking, food and beverage processing, printing, material handling, packaging, wood/lumber processing, textile processing and solar/PV module manufacturing.
