Baumer (www.baumer.com) has unveiled its small absolute encoder series MHAD, which seamlessly combines the functional capabilities of an absolute encoder with the product benefits of narrow dimensions.
With a very compact design, the encoder measures only 50 mm in diameter and 20 mm deep. This makes the encoder easy to fit into tight areas where installation space is limited. In addition, its large through-hollow shaft eliminates the need for additional space at the shaft end, while enabling installation anywhere on the motor shaft.
The new series completes the company’s HDmag encoder portfolio, which excels through absolute reliability, non-contact magnetic sensing and maximum availability. MHAD absolute encoder unites high-precision incremental and absolute signals in a single device. Its additional incremental signal of up to 8192 steps per turn offers speed feedback while its current position will be output as absolute value with 16-bit resolution. The air gap and the large permissible tolerances on axial and radial tolerances allow for quick and safe installation of the encoder. Its LED serves as an installation aide as well as an activity indicator.
In its standard configurations the encoder offers IP67 protection, enabling it to withstand operating temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C. The encoder’s magnetic sensing technique and robust design delivers dependable operation not only in humidity and dust but also during severe vibration and shock.
