Beckhoff Automation (www.beckhoff.com) has unveiled a new series of servo motor that can be used in highly corrosive and extremely harsh environments, making them ideally suited for use in the chemical, pharmaceutical or food industries.
The AM8800 stainless steel servo motor only needs one motor cable rather than the usual two. Available in three different sizes with three overall lengths, the servo motor effectively eliminates the need for feedback cable as the encoder information is digitally transmitted through the motor cable’s two cores. This single-feedback technology reduces engineering and installation expenditures, providing users with a clear material savings.
Featuring a stainless steel motor shaft, the AM8800’s robust all-stainless-steel housing in AISI 316L is extremely resistant to mechanical damage and scratches, and is specifically designed according to the guidelines of FDA.
The motor’s design reveals that the company has specifically avoided making corners and edges while dispensing with drilling holes and making screwed connections, preventing the accumulation of dirt.
In addition, Beckhoff has also ensured that power losses have been kept to the minimum attributed to the stators’ optimum connection to the housing. The all-new servo motors have been equipped with a sensor that will monitor the temperature and which passes the data to the drive through the single cable.
Ideal for cleaning with high-pressure cleaners, the AM8800 stainless steel servo motors are equipped with IP 67 protection or with an optional IP 69K rating.
