Belden introduces Hirschmann MACH104-16TX-PoEP Switch

July 27, 2011 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Belden Singapore Pte Ltd (www.belden.com) has unveiled the most powerful PoE switch on the market that features 16 TX ports supporting PoE and PoE Plus, and four combo-ports — the Hirschmann MACH104-16TX-PoEP.

The MACH104-16TX-PoEP can be integrated into Ethernet/IP and Profinet networks and provide additional features such as configurations and diagnostic functions, as well as extensive management and redundancy facilities. The new switch’s resistance to shocks and vibrations, and immunity to electrostatic discharges and magnetic field contribute to its operational safety. The switch can also be utilized inside switch cabinets that have no cooling systems since it is designed for a temperature range of between 0°C and +50°C.

To deliver a high level of network availability, the switch features redundancy systems that includes MRP (IEC ring function), HIPER Ring, multiring, rapid spanning tree and link aggregation. The status of the switch can be locally monitored via the indicator contacts, while the standard web browser displays detailed information.

Measuring 448 x 44 x 345 mm (W x H x D), the new switch is specifically designed to be integrated in 19-inch switch cabinets and can be fitted into operation utilizing plug and play. It also features a USB interface that can be utilized with ACA 21 auto configuration adapter to store and recall the configuration data, and to downgrade or upgrade the operating software.

“The 16 PoE ports offer a combined power of 246W, which could be used to power, for instance, up to 16 IP cameras,” said Product Manager Pascal Unterdorfer.

“The high bandwidth also offers sufficient reserves to simultaneously transmit the video streams of those same cameras, and the whole package fits in an industry-standard switch that promises the well-known Hirschmann quality and occupies only one unit of height.”
