Cognex Corporation (www.cognex.com) has introduced the all-new DataMan 8000 series, which is the wireless version of its DataMan handheld industrial ID scanner.

Featuring Cognex Connect capabilities, the new wireless communication base station and module is offered for users with extended range cord free code reading applications. Aside from the traditional support for RS-232 and USB, Cognex Connect offers users the most flexibility for communication through Industrial Protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet, MC Protocol and others. The new series is the only industrial handheld ID reader to offer support to industrial protocols for both cordless and corded models, allowing for reduced installation costs, easy integration and remote access to diagnostics.

The DataMan 8000 series offers a long working range of up to 100 m and comes with a deep memory for reading codes when out of range or offline. Its base station features a spare battery charger built in as standard and is compatible with industry standard USB, Ethernet and RS-232 cables.

The unique modular design of the system enables readers to change from corded USB/RS-232 communication to Industrial Ethernet or to wireless and field exchangeable interface modules. Providing security for customer investment, the communication modules also offers the much needed flexibility that allow users to easily modify communication as well as deployment methods to satisfactorily meet future requirements. Meanwhile, the wireless model’s base station is equipped with independent communication ports for Ethernet, USB and RS-232 options. This makes the model the most versatile choice in the series.

Specifically designed for the factory floor, the rugged DataMan 8000 series employs two powerful algorithms, which enables it to deliver the most advanced code reading technology in the industry.
