Deutschmann Automation GmbH (www.deutschmann.de) is proud to announce its partnership with Innovasic Semiconductor (www.innovasic.com). Deutschmann has integrated fido1100 Communications Controller and RapID Platform from Innovasic into its UNIGATE CL and UNIGATE IC Profinet gateway devices. The UNIGATE IC from Deutschmann is a protocol converter that directly supports integration into industrial automation equipment, while the UNIGATE CL is a protocol converter solution for every field device with serial interfaces. The RapID Platform solution from Innovasic provides communication processing in the gateway products. While evaluating the solution offered by Innovasic, Deutschmann found out that the 66 MHz fido1100 from Innovasic outperformed a 200 MHz RISC solution and offered higher reliability.
The RapID Platform solution features less than 50% the cost of a plug-in module than a conventional reference design. Its system-on-a-chip is less expensive compared to other single-chip Industrial Ethernet solutions. EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, and Profinet stacks are all royalty-free, field-proven and come with a free evaluation license.
