DINGS adds miniature ball screw assemblies for OEMs

★ By Puja Mitra Leave a Comment

DINGS’ Motion USA has expanded its precision motion portfolio with miniature ball screw and nut assemblies for OEM linear motion applications. The product line is intended for systems that require high efficiency, low backlash and application-specific customization.

As automation systems become faster, smaller and more precise, some engineers may find that standard ball screw assemblies do not meet application requirements. Challenges can include limited customization, long lead times and the need to source motors and mechanical components from multiple suppliers.

Designed for custom motion systems

DINGS’ ball screw assemblies are designed for application-specific customization rather than fixed catalog configurations.

  • Custom shaft end machining
  • Custom nut designs
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Multiple preload options
  • Ground (C3/C5) and rolled (C7) accuracy grades
  • Multiple nut styles
  • Diameters from 4 mm to 25 mm
  • Integrated motor pairing with DINGS stepper and BLDC motors

DINGS works with OEM engineering teams to modify standard assemblies or develop custom designs based on application requirements.

Designed for complete linear motion systems

The addition of ball screw assemblies expands DINGS’ linear motion offering to include multiple system elements from one supplier.

  • Precision motors
  • Ball screws or lead screws
  • Guidance mechanisms
  • Encoder feedback
  • Integrated linear actuator solutions
  • Application-specific customization

Using one supplier for these components can simplify integration and reduce development time compared with sourcing parts from multiple vendors.

From prototype to production

DINGS notes that its vertically integrated ball screw manufacturing provides more control over quality, customization and production scheduling. For some custom configurations, this can reduce lead times from months to weeks while maintaining the precision required for automation applications.

DINGS presents linear motion as a complete system that includes motor selection, screw design, guidance, encoder feedback and application-specific customization. Its engineering team works with OEMs to optimize the full axis rather than a single component.
