Dunkermotor’s GEN 4 Solar Tracking Motors

Dunkermotoren, a brand of AMETEK Precision Motion Control, has introduced a new series of tracking motors for the solar industry. The newly extended STM™ (Solar Tracker Motor) product line from Dunkermotoren now includes All-in-One brushless DC motors with optional onboard inclinometer and optional direct inclinometer input.

The new options are available on all current STM™ All-in-One brushless DC motors with integrated power and controls electronics, fieldbus communication, with planetary, worm or Wormetary™ gearing options. The motors can be mounted conveniently onto various slewing gear and linear actuator options provided by select third-party partners.

STM™ tracking motors are networked in groups of up to 65,535 tracking axis and interface directly with the main power plant tracking controller, eliminating the need for and costs associated with many components currently found on traditional tracking systems.

Dunkermotor’s STM™ tracking motion solutions allow solar tracker manufacturers to achieve lower total system costs, while increasing reliability and reducing down time. Furthermore, power plant operators can reach significantly lower total cost of ownership (TCO) levels, according to Dunkermotoren.
