Elmo Motion Control introduces the smallest EtherCAT servo drive

November 15, 2010 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Elmo Motion Control (www.elmomc.com) is proud to announce the launch of its all-new EtherCAT-ready digital servo drive in the manufacturer’s Gold Line: the high powered-density, PCB-mounted Gold Whistle offering up to 1.6kW of continuous power and 3.2kW of peak power in a compact package.

The super miniature network-based servo drive has dimensions of just 55mmx46mmx15mm, and weighs a mere 55 grams.

The highly-efficient Gold Whistle has high bandwidth performance and supports a variety of feedback types such as Incremental Encoder, Resolver, Analog and Digital Hall, Potentiometer and Tachometer. The servo drive offers multiple communication options including EtherCAT, CANopen, Ethernet, USB and RS-232.

“Elmo Motion Control’s engineers have again succeeded in bringing innovative solutions to the marketplace. Ultimately, the most important user community for us are the application engineers who integrate Elmo’s motion control solutions into their applications. They are looking for flexible solutions that are lightweight, high power and support the latest EtherCAT communications technology,” said Haim Monhait, CEO of Elmo Motion Control.

“We launched the Gold Line technology about a year ago. This represented a real step forward and we are now in the process of launching a range of 10–12 new servo drives that are all based on this new technology. These are exciting times for Elmo, and based on the feedback we receive from our customers and the participants at international exhibitions, we know that our excitement is shared by application engineers all over the world,” he added.
