Elmo Motion Control will present its latest technology and expanded products for industrial applications at SPS IPC Drives (Nov. 27-29, 2012, booth 4-365).
During the show, Elmo will launch its unique Gantry solution – a breakthrough alternative to traditional Gantry systems designed to improve customers’ efficiency and results. ‘Gantry, The Elmo Way’ is based on MIMO (Multi Input Multi Output) control structure and involves configuring only one Gold servo drive (the ‘Master’) and the second follows its lead. Gantry is achieved with only one cable and Elmo Application Studio (EAS) design software, with no need for a dedicated motion controller. Besides standard Gantry systems, the solution supports Planar motors (X/Y). A demo motor using the system will be operating in real-time at the booth.
Visitors to the booth will also have a chance to test drive and assess the benefits of the EAS tools. EAS is a top, integrated software environment for motion control solutions. It incorporates network configuration, advanced tuning, analysis, machine sequencing and system development under one umbrella.
Another real-time, must-see demo is a DDR application operating with Elmo’s direct-to-mains, high-power DDR technology – a breakthrough alternative to conventional gear-driven DDR applications. Elmo’s DDR solution comprises servo drives from the Gold Line and supports high-resolution encoders of up to 200,000,000PPR. It delivers: low jitter at standstill; high speed and torque; fast current loop sampling time; wide current loop bandwidth; the shortest settling time with no overshot or backlash; high-precision; high-rigidness; and has been approved for top applications, such as LED die bonding and wire bonding. The solution also offers real-time synchronization of 16 axes of movement on a plane via EtherCAT, creating a high-end solution for wire bonding and Gantry.
The Gold servo drives, also to be displayed at SPS, are an integral part of Elmo’s motion control solution. Their wide range of features include: DS-402 profile modes including cyclic position, velocity and current; outstanding servo performance; the ability to handle any feedback – incremental encoders, analog encoders, any absolute encoders, and resolvers; STO safety standard compliance; up to 65 kW of power; and UL and IEC 61800 certification to operate up to 800 VDC and 530 VAC. They are also standard compliant supporting both CANopen and EtherCAT protocols.
