Engineering web app lets designers pick components

May 28, 2015 By Mike Santora Leave a Comment

GAM-Gear-mobile-appGAM, a manufacturer of precision gear reducers, servo couplings, and linear mounting kits, now offers a engineering web app that lets designers pick components.

Available at m.gamweb.com, it works well on smartphones and tablets to give engineers quick access to full product information anytime, anywhere. Users can browse entire product catalog, search by keyword or part number, and then narrow down the results based on specific criteria. Users can also make side-by-side comparisons. The mobile app includes a Sizing Tool that helps users find products compatible with a given servomotor.

Once a product selection is done, users can request a quote or email the information to a colleague for design review. The email contains a link to CAD models, full product information, and .pdf catalog data sheets.

“Creating and manipulating CAD models on mobile devices isn’t practical in our industry yet, but engineers still need to access product information, design tools, and other relevant content while on the go,” said Mike Parzych, Product Marketing Manager at GAM.

The GAM app is browser based and works with any smartphone or tablet connected to the internet. It does not require download and updates occur automatically, ensuring users are viewing the most current information available.

With one of the largest product offerings in the motion control industry as well as the engineering expertise and capabilities to develop customized solutions, GAM can help with myriad applications. For more information visit gamweb.com.
