GE’s PACSystems with PROFINET offers flexible deployment

August 15, 2011 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

GE Intelligent Platforms (www.ge-ip.com) has unveiled a product that seamlessly combines open standards into a solution that generates significant value in connectivity, reliability and performance. Providing flexible deployment that reduces configuration and hardware issues, the PACSystems with real-time PROFINET also improves application uptime at lower cost, while satisfying the demands of users for high performing distributed systems.

Ideal for companies shifting from centralized control systems to distributed structures based on Ethernet, PACSystems with PROFINET can cover wide distances in real time with its remarkable redundancy capability to optimize uptime. It can also operate even in high noise areas.

Bernie Anger, Vice President, Control & Communication Systems for GE Intelligent Platforms, commented, “Companies today value solutions that control critical infrastructure and manufacturing operations at the highest levels of performance.”

“The new PACSystems with PROFINET helps our customers increase production uptime, increase asset performance and improve their reliability.”

“The automation industry has been working for a long time to provide real-time control over standard Ethernet for performance and infrastructure simplification,” remarked Connie Chick, Global Product General Manager for GE Intelligent Platforms’ Controls.

Craig Resnick, Research Director at ARC Advisory Group noted that PACSystems with integrated PROFINET fulfils the market’s requirement by delivering a plug-n-play solution “to deploy real-time industrial Ethernet-based communications at all levels of the manufacturing enterprise, utilizing TCP/IP along with open IT standards.”

“PACSystems with PROFINET sets a new standard for integration of open systems, providing the user clear benefits now and easier migration to new technology in the future,” said Chick.

“Our goal is to make customers more productive instantly by simplifying and eliminating unnecessary work.”
