Laird Technologies optimized MMCU-4 Modular Radio Remote Control Receiver

July 18, 2011 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Laird Technologies, Inc. (www.lairdtech.com), a world leader in design and manufacture of customized performance-critical systems and components for advanced wireless and electronics products, has unveiled an optimized member of the CattronControl™ family of remote control systems — the MMCU-4 radio remote control receiver.

A configurable modular radio remote control receiver, the MMCU-4 offers four slots that can utilize a vast array of I/O cards such as output cards with analog outputs, relays, opto-coupler outputs as well as input cards for digital and analog signals. The cards can be utilized to send back data to the operator, which is viewed in the transmitter unit as text information, numerical values, or a combination of both. The MMCU-4 also comes with serial interfaces such as Ethernet or Fieldbus that can be matched with any of the mentioned I/O cards.

The optimized MMCU-4 features a high selectivity RF module that can function in a TDMA channel access method, permitting a single RF channel to be shared by several radio remote control systems. Because of the limited supply of licensed frequencies, the enhancement effectively makes the receiver a perfect device for users utilizing highly critical applications on the licensed frequencies.

“Worldwide, Cattron is one of only a few radio remote control suppliers who are capable of offering machine interfaces with this type of functionality and complexity,” commented Frank Martin-Vazquez, Sales Director of Material Handling at Cattron.

“The MMCU-4 receiver can incorporate standard modules into its design, resulting in highly engineered remote control solutions that can be realized fast and cost effectively.”

The new MMCU-4 receiver can also be utilized in with the CattronControl™ LRC-L1 and LRC-M1 transmitters.
