LARC Direct Drive Frameless Motor Kits from Applimotion

June 22, 2010 By Miles Budimir Leave a Comment

Loomis, Calif. – Applimotion’s LARC Series direct drive frameless motor kits are now available for new applications with diameters up to 1m. Moving items at large diameters has always been a challenge when the mechanical structure cannot support a full size motor and the torque of a full size motor is not required. The LARC motors offer a good alternative at a reasonable price.

This motor technology uses simple Lorentz force mechanisms to create motion. Magnets, mounted to a metal ring, or arc-shaped segment, interact with current in phase coils to create force. This force is applied at the radius creating torque. Controlling the coils is easily done using a microcontroller and some transistors. The coil holder contains three coils, (three phases), that can be energized in a variety of ways to create motion. Motors can run at 5V up to 300V and range in size from 200mm to 1m diameters.

Applimotion provides unique motor options in short lead times. The ULT motor line has evolved over the last 10 years with over 200 different models to choose from, with the LARC motor adding to low-profile options.
