New white paper explores the potential of TSN to improve manufacturing

February 11, 2021 By Kelsey Zebrowski Leave a Comment

The CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) has announced the immediate availability of a white paper on Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) at eu.cc-link.org. “Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) –The Case For Action Now” provides an in-depth analysis of what the technology is and why it is crucial to create Smart Factories.

Authored by the CLPA and its board member company Analog Devices (ADI), the white paper takes a closer look at one of the most promising new developments for industrial communications, TSN. This offers a unique method to merge the information technology and operational technology worlds, delivering the data convergence and transparency across factories and enterprises that Industry 4.0 demands.

This latest paper from the CLPA discusses the potential of TSN, its governing standards, how they are evolving and what this means for businesses interested in this technology. In particular, the document highlights why it is important to act now in the implementation of TSN-driven industrial communications networks, detailing the immediate and long-term benefits to end users as well as automation vendors.

Finally, the white paper provides an insight into current technologies available that can help the transition to TSN-based communications, such as CC-Link IE TSN. This is the first open industrial gigabit Ethernet to feature key TSN functionalities for industrial automation applications.

Thomas Burke, Global Strategic Advisor at CLPA, comments: “TSN is a true game changing technology for industrial communications, which can help realize Industry 4.0 applications and deliver substantial benefits to end users. The CLPA’s latest white paper aims to shed a light into what TSN is and what it holds for industrial automation projects. We invite automation vendors as well as machine builders and end users to take advantage of this complementary download, learn more about how TSN can enhance business strategies, and act now to create highly competitive factory floors for years to come.”
