Nidec Avtron Automation Launches Line of Avtron Absolute Encoders

June 3, 2013 By Stacy Combest Leave a Comment

Nidec Avtron Automation Corporation is proud to announce the launch of its new line of Avtron absolute encoders.

Avtron-EncodersThe product offerings are available as optical or magnetic, shafted or hollow shaft, single-turn or multi-turn absolute encoders. The advantage of absolute encoders is that they retain their position even when powered off – they keep track of motion within their own absolute frame of reference, whereas incremental encoders need to be “homed” when power is eliminated. Nidec-Avtron’s new line of absolute encoders includes analog, SSI and Profibus, CANOpen, Devicenet and several common Ethernet platforms. A key feature is the elimination of all gears, optics, and batteries from the severe duty absolutes. This makes them enormously more reliable than existing models, yet they are designed to fit existing applications without mechanical or electrical modifications.

The markets for Nidec-Avtron’s new line of absolute encoders cover applications that range from light mill duty such as food & beverage machinery to severe duty applications like Wind Turbines, Steel Mill Equipment and Oil & Gas Rigs.
