Applied Processor and Measurement, Inc. (www.appliedprocessor.com) introduces the Model 500 Peak and Hold PWM Driver. It is made to drive solenoid based devices along with a full-on pull-in pulse, then give a reduced power hold-in voltage by pulse width modulating the output. This Model 500 has the ability to reduce overall voltage in existing on/off solenoid drive applications, to reduce the operating solenoid coil heat, thereby protecting the coil from burn-out and extending coil life. The model is readily interfaced to control systems, programmable logic controllers (“PLCs”) and PCs and it can be placed in line with present installations to give immediate benefit.
The new Model 500 Peak and Hold PWM Driver features a stand-alone, low-cost PWM Driver using reliable, repeatable and accurate APM’s digitally generated PWM technology. It features a rotary switch adjustable peak time (“full-on, pull-in”) from five msec to five sec; rotary switch adjustable high frequency PWM with hold duty cycle from 90 percent to 15 percent; contact closure trigger input, or opto-isolated trigger input; output and input LED indicators; and power MOSFET output with a low side load control, fuse protected.
The Model 500 also feature PWM output sinks up to 4 A at 12 V, up to 10 A peak and a controller, which operates from 9 V DC to 28 V DC. Its load can be operated with up to 50 V DC, and I/O connection using terminal strips.
