PI (Physik Instrumente) has introduced the V-141 linear motor stage family, a compact and cost-efficient addition to its range of direct-drive linear stages. Developed by PI USA and manufactured in Hopkinton, MA, the V-141 is designed for applications that require high speed and precision in limited spaces.
The V-141 linear motor stage is available in 40mm, 60mm, and 100mm travel ranges and offers the following performance specifications:
- Bidirectional repeatability of 0.12µm
- Straightness to 2µm
- Maximum velocity of 1.1m/sec
The 40mm version of the V-141 has a compact 80x80mm footprint, making it suitable for integration into OEM systems, lab automation, microscopy, semiconductor, and photonics applications where space is limited and precision is important.
The V-141 uses direct-drive linear motor technology, removing the need for mechanical transmissions like gears or screw drives. This design helps reduce maintenance and allows for smooth motion without backlash.
XY and XYZ configurations, counterbalance for vertical use
The V-141 can be configured for XY and XYZ motion systems and offers an optional counterbalance for the Z-axis, allowing it to support various multi-axis applications.
Motion controllers enable high dynamics
When operated with PI’s EtherCAT-based motion controllers, which include algorithms designed to optimize performance and minimize heat generation, the V-141 stages provide smooth motion, fast acceleration, and high-speed operation.
The new V-141 precision linear stage is available now.
